The G in GOALS = Gigantic
How often have you been asked what you want and invited to really explore and share? Most people tell me they cannot remember that ever happening. A business, life, or executive coach asks, and continues to ask and probe, and listens so that you dig deep and consider what really matters to you, what you do want, and what it means to achieve your goals.
In and of itself, taking the time to work through what you want is naturally empowering. When someone really listens and then asks follow-up questions in a space that is safe, the experience is amazing.
For example, when asked, an individual might say, “I want to earn enough money to live comfortably.” If left alone, the goal remains undefined and the process for achieving the goal undetermined. Dig deeper: how much is enough? What is comfortably? What else do you want? What does it mean to achieve this? Describe the ideal outcome. Left alone with these questions it is challenging to really explore fully the answers. Working with a coach who is there for you and focused completely on you means digging deep and expanding your thinking.
Play with the concept a bit now: With the spirit of a kid, what is your dream? On paper, write down the really goofy dreams and ideas first. Next, list your regular, solid, good dreams and plans. Then list great dreams and ideas. Reflect back on your list, and in each category prioritize what you think is most important. Now identify what you want the most.
Save your list of dreams and ideas, follow this blog, and create powerful goals for results using what coaches learn in coach training.
