Halloween is celebrated all over the United States with scary costumes and the implication of a trick if you don’t provide treats. What is scary? Is it the ghosts and goblins or is it your to do list? Coaching is a tool to move past the ghosts and goblins and in to the life you choose.
Imagine the goal is the bag of treats and the barriers include things that might trip you up or slow you down. With planning, the evening goes smoothly. Planning in a coaching relationship begins by identifying the goal and considering the barriers. Sometimes client say they are their own biggest barrier. Others share it is procrastination. Prioritization is a common concern. Often time and money challenges are mentioned.
After defining the barriers, the next coaching question is how to move past these obstacles. Included with exploring options to move past the barriers, coaches ask what skills, tools, relationships, or other resources will be used to move towards goals. Then the coach asks for a plan of action to achieve the defined goals.
Being scared on Halloween is part of the fun and kids get excited about coming home with a bag full of treats. Coaching empowers you to move past being scared and toward the fun of success.
Happy Halloween!
