After exploring your motivation for coaching certification, the next challenge is deciding which (there are over 300!) coaching certification works best for your goals. So here are practical questions you may want answered by you and your course provider.
- Certification– What type of certification can you expect from this course? There are so many courses out there that promise to deliver some kind of certification but you must do your own homework! Check the ICF website for information on accredited course provider and find your course provider from the directory provided.
- Trainer-Do you have a preference for a gender type? No guilt required here, I was looking for a female coach trainer because I think that women do tend to cover more ground just because ladies tend to want to share more and learn more in detail. Just ask your nearest lady friend for advice on shoes; I am sure you will receive more information than required. How much experience do you want the trainer to have? This can also be a reflection of how far your trainer can take you when it comes to your education. Check out the trainer’s bio and arrange to have a chat with the trainer in question and decide for yourself whether you can get along. After all, who wants to learn from someone they cannot stand? Not many people I would say.
When you complete your coaching certification, being confident you have the tools and know the techniques to start working is important. These questions are about the quality of the training and the information. In the next blog post are practical considerations.
